The New 2022 Honda Ridgeline
Are you looking for a compact truck that checks all the boxes in terms of style and utility? You’re in the right place because the new 2022 Honda Ridgeline is just the option for you. The Honda Ridgeline drives somewhat like an SUV with a unibody platform, while the interior has sufficient seat room and features excellent build quality.
The IIHS has given the 2022 Honda Ridgeline a G (Good) rating overall and in terms of diver injury measures, structure and safety cage, driver restraints, and roof strength.
But it’s not just limited to interior and exterior build. The vehicle has a lot more to it that we’ll go over in detail below.
A General Overview
The new 2022 Honda Ridgeline is a midsize pickup featuring a unibody platform that offers a smoother ride than other trucks in the market. Due to the independent rear suspension on all corners, the truck rides like an SUV and experiences lesser body roll as compared to conventional trucks.
Although it doesn’t have low-range gear, the vehicle features a torque-vectoring AWD system, which provides sufficient power to deal with off-road hurdles. But the most attractive thing about this vehicle has to be the spacious interior cabin.
Since you can fold the seat bottoms, there’s an opportunity to increase the interior space. Plus, the tailgate has been ergonomically designed to ensure that it swings and drops down easily, facilitating loading and unloading.
The bed is five feet long with a 33.9 cubic feet cargo volume, while the tailgate can fold down to create a space of up to seven feet. It would be unfair to limit the new 2022 Honda Ridgeline to its utility only since it does a great job of providing entertainment too.
The Honda Ridgeline comes in four trim levels: Black Edition, RTL, Sport, and RTL-E. All four trims have NHTSA’s 5-Star Safety Ratings and come with notable safety, entertainment, and utility features.
Here’s a more detailed look at all four trims.
The Honda Ridgeline Sport is comparatively the more feature-rich trim of all four. With a towing capacity of 5,000 lbs, the trim has most features you’d expect to see in a truck of its kind, including a lockable in-bed trunk, dual-action tailgate, and lift-up rear seat with under-seat storage.
The truck seats five passengers and has both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration for entertainment purposes. To ensure comfortable seating, the vehicle has head restraints on all seats and adjustable seat-belt anchors for the front row.
The exterior features LED projector low-beam headlights, dual exhaust finishers, rear privacy glass, and LED taillights.
- Smart entry: The Sport trim has Smart Entry with Walk Away Auto Lock that lets you unlock the truck by simply touching the door handle.

The Honda Ridgeline RTL also has a towing capacity of 5,000 lbs with Honda’s trademark Sensing Safety & Driver-Assistive Technologies. Moreover, it has heated front seats – a feature absent in the Sport trim. The seats are also leather-trimmed for added luxury.
Featuring a seating capacity of five, the RTL trim has a Two-Position Memory driver’s seat with power lumbar support. Meanwhile, the front passenger seat has a four-way power adjustment and is also heated like the driver’s seat.
On the exterior, the truck has an in-bed trunk, dual exhaust finishers, dual-action tailgate, and LED projector headlights with automatic on/off functionality. Meanwhile, the entertainment features are the same as the Sport trim.
A distinguishing feature of the RTL is the body-colored power side mirrors with Memory and Turn Indicators.
- Heated front seats: The heated front seats make it super comfortable to ride this truck during colder weather.
- Moonroof: The Honda Ridgeline RTL also comes with a one-touch power moonroof that has a tilt feature.
The RTL-E is quite similar to the RTL trim in terms of its exterior and interior features. For additional comfort, it has a push-button start, tailgate locks, cruise control, one-touch turn indicators, and remote fuel filler door release.
The seating capacity and features are also the same as RTL. However, the RTL-E has an Intelligent Traction Management functionality that lets you steer your vehicle safely through snow, sand, and mud.
- Auto High-Beam headlights: The ETL-E trim has automatic high-beam headlights that make navigation easier on low visibility days.
- Programmable remote entry: The ETL-E trim has a programmable remote entry that lets you lock and unlock your car from a certain distance.
The Black Edition shares similarities with the RTL-E since it has programmable remote entry, seating capacity of five, heated front seats, one-touch power moonroof, parking sensors, and interior space of 39.5 in / 38.8 in. The passenger volume of 108.9 cu ft is also the same as RTL-E.
It also has all Honda Sensing Safety & Driver Assistive Technologies, such as Road Departure Mitigation System, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist, and Collision Mitigation Braking System.
- Leather-trimmed interior: The Black Edition has a leather-trimmed interior with heated front seats.
